About
Jennifer D. Sciubba, Ph.D.
As President and CEO of the Population Reference Bureau (PRB), I lead a globally respected organization dedicated to leveraging data and insight to improve the well-being of people everywhere. Since May 2024, I have guided PRB through a period of tremendous upheaval across the U.S. nonprofit and international development sectors—strengthening partnerships, fostering innovation and strategic risk-taking, and positioning the organization for long-term sustainability and impact.
My leadership philosophy centers on transparency, trust, and empowerment. I believe institutions thrive when people are valued, informed, and encouraged to bring forward their best ideas. Working closely with an engaged Board of Trustees, I’ve focused on diversifying funding, expanding collaboration, and reinforcing PRB’s commitment to excellence and relevance in a rapidly changing world.
As a translator and advocate for policy-relevant research, I work to make complex demographic and political dynamics clear and actionable for decision-makers and the public alike. I’ve long asserted that a deeper understanding of fertility, mortality, and migration trends points us toward the investments we need to make today to shape the future we want tomorrow. My forthcoming co-authored book, Toxic Demography (Oxford University Press, November 2025), reveals how population dynamics are intertwined with political ideologies, identity, and nationalism, and examines how demographic trends have been ideologically distorted—from historical manipulations to current debates about the pandemic and global fertility decline. Through this work, I continue my lifelong mission to connect insight and evidence with the policies and institutions that shape people’s lives.
I see leadership as an act of stewardship—of people, ideas, and institutions. It begins with listening, but also requires courage: to make hard choices, take smart risks, and guide others through uncertainty with integrity and optimism. Across my career, from the classroom to the boardroom, I’ve sought to connect insight with action and to build organizations that learn, adapt, and lead with purpose.
